Wherever you are in your career, we have a certification for you.

Each year, PMI will offer a PMP and CAPM Scholarship which will be open to members of PMI Tasmania Chapter only.  Applications open around October/November each year and the winner will be announced at the Chapter's End of Year celebration.

CAPM Certification (Certified Associate in Project Management)

What is CAPM?

The Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) is a globally recognized credential that opens the door to opportunities at every stage of your career in the field of project management.

The current CAPM certification involves taking a 150-question exam that tests your aptitude in:

  • Fundamentals of project management and the role of project managers

  • Project management environment, and project integration management

  • Project scope, schedule, cost, quality and resource management

  • Project procurement, communication, stakeholder and risk management.

The CAPM certification is a valuable first step in building a career as a project manager. It can also aid you in pursuing many of our major certifications including the gold standard PM certification, the Project Management Professional (PMP).

PMP Certification (Project Management Professional)

As the world’s leading authority on project management, PMI created PMP Certification to recognise project managers who have proven they have the skills to successfully manage projects. Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification represents an elite group of project managers. It proves project leadership experience and expertise in any way of working.

To obtain PMP certification, a project manager must meet certain requirements and then pass a 180-question exam. The PMP exam was created by project leaders for project leaders, so each test question can be related to real-life project management experiences.

PMP certification validates that you are highly skilled in:

  • People: Recognising you have the skills to effectively lead and motivate a project team throughout a project.

  • Process: Using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches to determine which way of working is best for each project.

  • Business Environment: Highlighting the success of a project and its impact on overall strategic, organisational goals.

ACP Certification (Agile Certified Practitioner)

If you’re experienced using agile approaches, have good collaboration skills, eagerly embrace complexity and thrive on rapid response times, then your talents are in demand.

From the people who brought you the PMP®, the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) formally recognises your knowledge of agile principles and your skill with agile techniques. Show your peers, employers, and stakeholders that your agile knowledge runs deep.

PMI-ACP certification was created by agilists for agilists. Organisations that are highly agile and responsive to market dynamics complete more of their projects successfully than their slower-moving counterparts — 75 percent versus 56 percent — as shown in our 2015 Pulse of the Profession® report.

The PMI-ACP spans many approaches to agile such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, extreme programming (XP) and test-driven development (TDD).  So it will increase your versatility, wherever your projects may take you.
